Benitez confirms Fellaini interest

Cape Town - Napoli are ready to rescue Marouane Fellaini from his Manchester United nightmare with the Serie A club waiting on United to make a decision on the player's future.

The Evening Standard report that Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is interested in bringing Manchester United flop Marouane Fellaini to the Serie A.

With Louis van Gaal set to wield the axe on players he deems unsuitable, Benitez is waiting to pounce on Fellani.

After David Moyes' signed the tall Belgian midfielder on deadline day last August, the player has failed to adjust to life at Old Trafford as is likely to depart.

It seems a move to Napoli is all but signed after Benitez described the player as "great" and confirmed the deal is in United's court.

"He is a great player but he is at another team. It appears he is waiting for Van Gaal. We will have to wait,” Benitez told reporters.

"Fellaini is a Manchester United player - it does not depend on us but it depends on them.

"Is he the right player? We have players who work very well, while it also depends on who leaves, it is not easy to name names.”

"What features in a midfielder am I after? Players who have the mindset to win every game, then we can start to talk about the technical quality. With our same mentality but with a little more quality."
