Be patient with Welbeck - Wenger

Cape Town - Arsene Wenger is confident that Danny Welbeck will produce the goods but has stressed that the player needs time after his deadline day arrival.

Dortmund ease past Arsenal

Arsenal "have to be patient" with £16 million signing Danny Welbeck according to the BBC.

The 23-year-old England forward has now missed two clear goal scoring chances since making his deadline day move to Arsenal, the most recent miss coming in Arsenal's 2-0 loss against Dortmund.

Welbeck had a relatively easy chance when through on goal before Dortmund took advantage of the miss to take the lead.

"Danny will improve - we don't have to make a problem of that," said Wenger.

"It's very difficult to go into any individual assessment of any player because as a team we were not at the requested level," said Wenger after seeing his side turn in a poor performance against the Bundesliga side.

Arsenal's next Champions League opponents are Turkish side Galatasaray. The sides will meet at the Emirates Stadium on October 1.
