Cape Town - Everton have alerted Manchester City and other clubs that the services of midfielder Ross Barkley would cost £60m.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City has been in pole position to land the 22-year-old as the Blues look for a long term replacement for Yaya Toure.
It has been reported that City will double the players wages if he were to come to the Ethihad on a permanent basis.
Barkley has however penned a new four-year deal during the off season and admitted to the Guardian that it is his “dream” to play for Everton and that “this is the club I love and I see it as home.”
City are not the only top flight English club who are interested in signing Barkley as Manchester United and Chelsea also look to add a nifty midfielder to their ranks.
It is revealed that Barkely has ambitions to play at a bigger club and the 2014/15 might be his last time playing for the Merseyside Blues.
