Barcelona interested in Torres

Barcelona - Spanish champions Barcelona have set their sights on Fernando Torres from Liverpool, according to a report on Monday in Catalan daily Sport.

Sport said that new Barca president Sandro Rosell will offer Liverpool around 45 million euros for Torres striker, but that Liverpool will not contemplate selling him for less than 60 million euros.

Torres, 26, joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid in 2007 and is currently playing for Spain at the World Cup.

In order to accommodate him, Barca would need to sell off Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Four weeks ago Barca signed David Villa, who frequently partners Torres in the Spain attack, from Valencia for 40 million euros.

Mundo Deportivo, Sport's rival, said that "priority number one" for Rosell is not Torres but Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who is also currently playing for Spain in South Africa.

Barcelona and just about every other team with cash. The possibility is high. I'm not hearing any commitment from him or Gerrard, as well as Masch in the media. If they want to go, let 'em go. We just need to milk 'em for what they worth. I say 110 million for Torres. Smash the record. If you want guaranteed goals, you get this fella. If his fit and on form, he's unplayable. Way more valuable than the Portuguese actress at Madrid. However, I do believe the Spanish style of play does not suit him. Look at him on national level. Villa bangs in goals left, right and center while Torres just gets the odd one or two here and there. The style is too slow for him. And Barce play the same way. If he does leave, I think it'll be to another Premiership team, most likely Chelsea. He's always spoken of how the EPL suits his style. But money talks and BS walks. Everyone has there price. You never know.

To hell with all this speculation about players leaving ! We first need to find a top class manager to put the fire back into the Liverpool belly and lead us from the doldrums ! Dalglish needs to sit down with the top players and explain the clubs game plan and way forward. Top class players will always want to win medals and play for top clubs.Liverpool FC IS STILL one of the best clubs in the world - we need to get back on track to what LFC stands for ! Torres is a class act and when he and Gerrard are on song they are unstoppable - I dont think there is a better strike combination in the EPL at present - their understanding on the park is uncanny - and I think if they are split up their game standard could drop or suffer ! Any new manager coming in needs to be able to once again fire up the clubs top players to want to achieve for Liverpool - I hope the Torres and Gerrard stay as LFC suits their type of game ! GET THE YANKS TO FOOK OFF - NOT THE PLAYERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
