Barca defender on the move

Cape Town - Barcelona right back Martin Montoya is attempting to manufacture a move away from the Nou Camp and has attracted interest from several leading clubs.

Currently out of favour at Barcelona, Montoya is desperate to leave the Catalan giants according to the Daily Express.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in bringing Montoya to the English Premiership but reports suggest Juventus are leading the race to sign the 23-year-old defender.

Montoya, who has featured just once this season for Barca, will be allowed to leave according to agent Juan De Dios Carrasco.

"When a Barcelona player like Montoya wants to leave, I do not think the club will protest," Carrasco said.

"He wants to play but does not want to stay at Barcelona. The coach decides who plays, but if Martin does not play, then he wants to leave."

Carrasco revealed there is ample interest in Montoya's services from across Europe.

"He will leave the club in January, there are clubs interested. In England, Italy and Germany." revealed the agent.

Montoya has been part of the Barcelona system for the last 15 years but his future at the club is in serious doubt after failing to impress Luis Enrique.
