Cape Town - Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has promised to repay his fans for their support as he settles into life at the Premier League club.
The 24-year-old arrived at Anfield this season from AC Milan and has battled to find his scoring form, managing only one goal in eight appearances so far.
Critics have been quick to point out his struggles, as Balotelli was expected the lead the Reds' attack, with strike-partner Daniel Sturridge currently sidelined by a thigh injury.
The Italy international took to social media to express his gratitude to his followers, posting a picture of a banner held in his honour with the Oscar Wilde quote: "I have nothing to declare except my genius".
"Wow thanks to whoever did this," Balotelli wrote on his Instagram on Saturday. "I know all of you expect more from me.
"More goals especially and more 'genius' but give me time and I'll show it is true."
He could be joined by Sturridge in the Merseysiders' line-up when they travel to Queens Park Rangers next Sunday.
