Balotelli a no go for Newcastle

Cape Town - Newcastle United have moved quickly to cull speculation linking them with a move for Livepool forward Mario Balotelli.

The Daily Star report that Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is not interested in bringing Balotelli to the Magpies.

The Italian joined from AC Milan in August 2014 for £16 million but failed to provide Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will the goals that the Reds required following Luis Suarez' departure for Barcelona.

Balotelli's season ended in a whimper as the player failed to start in the league from December and scored just four goals all season.

The moody former Manchester City player's faces a precarious crossroads in his career at Anfield. With the Reds eyeing a move for Aston Villa's Christian Benteke and hopeful that prolific striker Daniel Sturridge will be fit for the new campaign plus the new addition of Hoffenheim play-maker Roberto Firmino, Balotelli could be spending even more time on the bench if he fails to find a new club for next season.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
