Madrid - Argentina striker Sergio Aguero announced Wednesday that he has joined Premier League big-spender Manchester City from Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
"I am now a City player," Aguero said in a message in Spanish on Twitter. "Happy to be at this club and in this city. Thanks to everyone for the welcome and the reception."
It followed tweets from City earlier in the day confirming that he was in talks with club executives at its Eastlands stadium.
Aguero is widely reported in the British media to be costing the club about 38 million pounds.
The striker was recently in action with for Argentina at the Copa America until his side was eliminated in the quarter-finals by eventual winners Uruguay.
With compatriot Carlos Tevez wanting to leave Man City to be nearer his two daughters in Argentina, the 23-year-old Aguero is seen as the ideal replacement.
Younger than his compatriot by four years, Aguero is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
