London - Bafana Bafana midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi scored late to give Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory over Birmingham City to aid their promotion push from the English Championship.
Dikgacoi scored a rare headed goal in the 84th minute to seal the points for The Eagles, who now move up to eighth in the table, two points off the promotion play-off places.
It looked as though the game might end goalless before Darren Ambrose picked up the ball on the right and his inch-perfect cross was met powerfully by Dikgacoi with the ball crashing into the net.
It was Dikgacoi’s first goal for Palace since his permanent move from Fulham at the start of this season, though he did net while on loan at Selhurst Park in the second half of the last campaign.
He was making his 14th appearance for the side in 2011/12, the only one of the South Africans in the Championship who is seeing regular action for his club side.
He was also part of the Palace side that stunned Manchester United in the Carling Cup last month, a massive moment for the Bafana star who admits the Red Devils were his childhood idols.
