WATCH: Nazi salute Lyon fan identified and banned

Lyon - A supporter filmed making a Nazi salute at Lyon's Champions League match against Manchester City in midweek has been identified and reported to British police, the French club said on Thursday.

The incident at City's Etihad Stadium was featured heavily on social media.

Lyon said they had identified the individual, who was already known to them, and reported him to the police.

"We roundly condemn this kind of behaviour. The person concerned has been given a lifetime ban from our stadium and any organised trip with the club," the club said.

Manchester police said they had opened a hate crime investigation into the incident.

Visitors Lyon won the game 2-1 in a surprise upset against the Premier League champions.
