Simeone weighs up Leicester

Cape Town - Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has given his verdict on Leicester City ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Atleti take a 1-0 aggregate lead with them to the King Power Stadium to face the last English team left standing in the competition, and the Argentine coach spoke of their similarities.

"Leicester depend on the details, as we also depend on the details," he said.

"It's a well worked and defensively balanced team and we are also similar like that. So it's an evenly matched and complex qualifier."

While the Foxes are making their first appearance in the tournament, Atletico have been losing finalists twice in recent years, and Simeone credits their competitiveness for that impressive feat.

"The best thing that this team has been doing in the last years is competing," he added.

"Competing in every competition they play makes them different and it’s an important point that this group has."

Kick off is at 20:45.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
