Berlin - Bayern Munich chairperson Karl-Heinz Rummenigge doesn't want the players to get too excited by their 6-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.

Striker Robert Lewandowski scored the fastest quadruple in Champions League history after finding the net four times in 14 minutes and 31 seconds.

The Poland international also became the second player to score in nine consecutive group-stage appearances in Europe's elite competition.

Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso also bagged but the night belonged to Lewandowski as he scored his 30th goal of the campaign for club and country.

Bayern will qualify from Group B as group winners after winning their first five matches and play Tottenham in their final game.

Tuesday's win will also boost Hansi Flick's chances of getting the job permanently, with the interim coach winning his first four games in charge.

Bayern have not conceded in that time and Rummenigge says they can go into battles against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach with plenty of confidence.

At Bayern's traditional midnight banquet, he told his team: "We saw a great match. I'd like to expressly praise the team.

"We mustn't descend into euphoria. Difficult matches await us. But we can be confident ahead of them. You've done a great job over the last few weeks. Keep going!"

Bayern's recent wins over Borussia Dortmund and Fortuna Dusseldorf have moved them to within one of point of league leaders Gladbach. After the pair meet in the Bundesliga on December 7, Flick's side face Werder Bremen and Freiburg.
