Ronaldo thankful for Old Trafford support

Cape Town - Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked the Manchester United fans for welcoming him back to Old Trafford during Tuesday's Champions League clash.

The Juventus winger was instrumental in the narrow 1-0 win as his cross led to Paulo Dybala scoring the only goal of a one-sided game dominated by the Italian side.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner won three Premier League titles as well as the Champions League and a number of cup competitions during his time in Manchester before moving to Real Madrid.

Posting on Twitter after the game, the former Red Devil wrote: “An important victory in a very emotional match for me.

“It was great playing at Old Trafford again. Thanks to all the fans for the reception and support.”

Juventus (9 points) ended the evening on top of Group H with maximum points from three games, with Manchester United (4) in second with a win, loss and draw.

Meanwhile, on the same night, Young Boys (1) held Valencia (2) to a 1-1 draw but remain anchored at the bottom of the group with La Liga side pitted at third.
