Cape Town - Bayern
Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer admits the Bavarians face "an
interesting and difficult task" when they lock horns with Arsenal in the
last 16 of the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti's side were paired with the Gunners in Monday's draw, meaning they will renew hostilities with the London-based outfit after battling it out in Group F of last season's competition.
Bayern claimed top spot in the group and progressed all the way to the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal, on the other hand, were dumped out a the first hurdle after a 5-1 aggregate loss to Barcelona in the last 16.
However, while Bayern did record a 5-1 victory over Arsenal at the Allinz Arena in the group stage, Arsenal produced a polished performance at home in a 2-0 victory.
And, after seeing the results of Monday's draw, Neuer has commented on the upcoming two-legged tie.
"This is an interesting and difficult task," he told the club's official website.
"We know Arsenal very well from the past years; we have often played against them, two times in the round of the last 16.
"We have had a good experience and we have been successful
"Arsenal is a strong team and I appreciate it at the moment more than in the years before.
"A nice thing is that we will meet with Mesut (Ozil) and Shkodran (Mustafi) colleagues from the national side," he concluded.
