Cape Town - Jose Mourinho has responded to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes' scathing criticism saying he is surprised the Portuguese hasn't been sacked already by the club.
Speaking as an analyst for BT Sport Scholes said Mourinho's antics were embarrassing the club before adding that he was surprised he hadn't been sacked after a 3-1 loss to West Ham United.
"I'm sat here actually surprised that he survived after Saturday," Scholes said. "He's coming out in press conferences and constantly having a go at players and those above him.
I think his mouth is out of control and I think he's embarrassing the club."
Mourinho refused to be drawn into another verbal spat with the former Man United midfielder saying that Scholes was free to say what he wanted to.
Previously when defending Paul Pogba, Mourinho hinted that Scholes was envious of the amounts modern players were paid and that he was 25% as successful as himself if he decided to become a a manager one day.
