Klopp: No Matip for Moscow

Cape Town - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Joel Matip will be absent from their Champions League clash with Spartak Moscow on Wednesday.

The Cameroon centre-back missed the 5-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion after getting injured against Stoke City, leading Klopp to employ Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum in a three-man central defence.

Speaking about the injury, Klopp told the club's official website: "He has hurt his muscle. I don't know how long exactly he'll be out, but he's definitely not playing Wednesday."

The Liverpool boss, however, didn't think the former Schalke man who be out for too long.

He added: "A month? No, I don't think so. But as always, it's possible. We have to wait.

"But it's possible that it will be shorter. We will see."
