Klopp hopes Henderson injury isn't too serious

Cape Town - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful the ankle injury suffered by captain Jordan Henderson is not too serious.

The England international was forced off after just 13 minutes of the Reds 3-1 away victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday - a result that sealed their place in the quarter-finals.

Indeed, the ankle injury suffered by Henderson was the only blot on an otherwise successful night for Liverpool, with Klopp admitting after the match that he hopes the midfielder's injury is not something that will keep him out for a prolonged period of time.

"It's a big night with a little shadow that is Hendo's twisted ankle,” Klopp was quoted as saying by the Liverpool website.

"It's Hendo so he's a hard one, but we have to see, of course. It looks hopefully not that serious but for tonight we had to change."

Fabinho was the man that replaced Henderson during the first-half and Klopp was pleased with the way his side coped with the early change, as it easily could have disrupted their flow.

"That's always a bad sign for a game, when you have to change early," the German added.

"We trained with him there in that position - we wanted to, not to rest Fabinho, but we wanted to bring in fresh legs and Hendo had fresh legs but unfortunately that didn't help with the ankle."
