Heynckes unwilling to experiment with Bayern selection

Cape Town - Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes believes it's too risky for the team at this early stage of the season to start giving fringe players more opportunities.

Die Roten cruised to a 3-0 victory over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday, following a 5-0 hammering of SC Freiburg at the weekend.

With 5-0 and 3-0 victories in his first two games in charge, following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti, Heynckes is determined to continue building momentum and is reluctant to take any risks regarding team selection.

"It is necessary to develop momentum and win the first few games, either in the Bundesliga or Champions League, where we have ambitions of reaching the next round," he told his post-match press conference, according to Four Four Two.

"For that reason, we cannot afford to experiment much with new players.

"But I spoke to all the players that weren't involved today to ensure them that they do have a role in the team, especially with a busy schedule coming up."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
