Cape Town - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his players are not yet on the level to be considered real contenders for the UEFA Champions League title.
City are at the top of the Premier League standings, after grinding out a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Monday night, and have won seven of their last eight games across all competitions.
However, Guardiola insists there are many aspects of the game the Citizens still have to improve upon if they want to be spoken of in the same breath as European heavyweights Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
"We have a lot of things to improve if we are to be a real contender," the Spaniard told the media.
"We are a very good side. I am not saying the opposite, but when you are going to play at important stages in the last third of the Premier League and especially in Europe, we demand another issue or points that we don't have.
"That is why hopefully we can talk about that and train for that and hopefully in the future we can improve that."
