Cape Town - Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that midfielder Mario Gotze will not feature in the Champions League tie against Real Madrid, due to a knee injury.
The Bundesliga giants travel to the Santiago Bernabeu knowing they only need a draw to finish at the summit of the Group F standings, having collected 13 points from a possible 15 thus far, with Madrid in second place on 11 points.
Thomas Tuchel's side will have to do without the services of their World-Cup winning playmaker, however, after the club released an official statement indicating his unavailability.
"Black and Yellows are without Mario Götze, who is suffering from a minor injury, for their final UEFA Champions League group game on Wednesday," the statement read.
"Gotze is not travelling to Madrid due to a minor knee complaint. However, the medical department did not entirely rule out the midfielder's involvement when BVB travel to Cologne in the Bundesliga on Saturday."
