Conte: Chelsea must show character against Barca

Cape Town - Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has warned his players that they will need guts and determination against UEFA Champions League opponents Barcelona on Wednesday.

The Blues drew the first leg of the last-16 tie 1-1 at Stamford Bridge and will face one of their most difficult challenges of the season when they travel to Spain to take on the Catalans at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have been in sensational form this season. Ernesto Valverde's men have not lost a single La Liga or Champions League game all season, and sit eight points clear at the top of their domestic league.

“We must be very good but when you play against this type of team, which I think is one of the best in the world, you must be prepared to suffer, in the same way we did in the first leg, where we were almost perfect,” Conte told the club’s official website.

“This is not a (Chelsea) team with great experience, we have a lot of players who are playing their first or second season in the Champions League.

“But we have to work as a team and try to be ready to suffer the moments we have to suffer, and in every moment we have to know that we can have a chance to score.”

Kick-off is at 21:45 (SA time).
