Cape Town - After Tuesday night’s thrilling UEFA Champions League semi-final, Cristiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid team-mates couldn’t be happier. They’re through to the finals despite a second-minute goal from Bayern Munich leaving Los Blancos fans worried.
But although Joshua Kimmich’s right foot put the Real home crowd on tenterhooks, a devastating mistake by goalkeeper Sven Ulreich allowed Karim Benzema to score a brace.
But according to Sports Bible, the rivalry between players started long before they’d even walked on to the pitch. Bayern’s Arturo Vidal took to Instagram before the game to share an edited poster of the Avengers: Infinity War blockbuster. On it, Ronaldo’s pic is covered with a poop emoji.
Vidal, who missed the game due to injury, might have been trying to rile up the star who’s won five Ballon d’Ors.
After Bayern's elimination, Vidal erupted again on social media. The German giants felt they should’ve been awarded a spot kick in the final moments when the ball hit Real’s Marcelo Vieira’s hand.
What added to the fire was Vieira admitted the ball touched his hand. Vieira spoke to Fox Sports after the game, saying, “Yes, it hit my hand.”
Vidal, who is known for his bullish attitude, then took to social media to call Real’s players “criminals”. According to Mail Online, the Chilean national player wrote, “Once again!!! Criminal s***,” on his Instagram when referring to Real Madrid.
However, fans had mixed emotions of Vidal’s social-media breakdown.
