Allegri hopes pot 1 works out for Juve

Cape Town - Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri hopes his team can make the most of finishing in first place of Group H in the Champions League.

The Old Lady beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 on Wednesday to claim top spot, securing their place in Pot 1 for the last-16 draw. Their potential opponents in the next round include Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Porto, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

Allegri was pleased with the performance of his players against the Croatian champions, after making changes to the formation for the game.

“The change of formation was to put more men in the middle of the field - the twelve league matches were won in different ways, we give a few reference points and move more. In the first half we were slow, while in the second half we did better because Dynamo opened up and dropped off physically," he told a post-match press conference.

"It was important to win at home and to gain first place in Group H and because we had not won at home in this Champions League edition. We shall see if being in pot 1 works out better for us.

"We have all the right ingredients to do well but we can improve our quality of game play by not conceding too many shots on goal."

Juve were eliminated at the last-16 stage of the Champions League last season when Bayern Munich beat them over two legs.
