Rooney ruled out of PSV trip

Cape Town - Wayne Rooney has missed the trip to PSV Eindhoven with the hamstring injury he sustained in training ahead of Saturday's 3-1 win over Liverpool.

Manager Louis van Gaal opted to rest Rooney in the hopes of having his regular captain fit for Sunday's trip to Southampton, according to the Manchester United website.

Young duo James Wilson and Andreas Pereira, who was signed from PSV, have both been added to the 18-man squad that was on duty against Liverpool at Old Trafford. 

The match kicks off at 20.45 on Tuesday.

David De Gea, Sergio Romero; Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Paddy McNair, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia; Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Andreas Pereira, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata, Ashley Young; Memphis Depay, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, James Wilson.
