Real Madrid in pole for CL win

Cape Town - Real Madrid are being tipped to do what no club has ever done and retain their Champions League crown by the bookmakers.

Leading international bookmakers Ladbrokes have installed last season's winners as early favourites to win the Champions League, a year after capturing their tenth European crown.

Since the European club competition changed it's name and structure in 1992, no club side has ever defended the competition but Real Madrid are now favoured to do so.

Real Madrid are 10/3 to win this year's competition and are closely followed by German giants Bayern Munich at 7/2 with Barcelona rounding out the top three teams, according to the bookmakers, at 5/1 to lift the trophy.

The Olympia Stadion in Berlin will host this season's final where Chelsea are the leading English side, and fourth favourites overall, to win the trophy with odds of 7/1 while Manchester City are fourth in line at this stage at 12/1.

Rest of the contenders:

PSG - 16/1

Atletico Madrid - 20/1

Arsenal - 25/1

Liverpool - 25/1

Juventus - 28/1
