Pastore blows hot and cold

Cape Town - Former France international Frank Leboeuf believes Javier Pastore is too inconsistent to be a focal point of the Paris Saint-Germain squad.

Pastore was instrumental in Les Parisiens 3-2 win over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night, filling the void left by the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 25-year-old has also featured prominently for Laurent Blanc's side domestically and has appeared in all of the capital club's first eight Ligue 1 fixtures.

However, Leboeuf believes the Argentine's performances can be erratic at times and says he may have to perform to his full potential for a prolonged period in the first team if he is to become a key player under Blanc.

"He can be a genius, or Fantomas," the World Cup winner told Goal. "It's getting better, it's a good start.

"But when you're a coach, you cannot give him the keys to the game. You do not know if he will be non-existent or not.

"So, you'd rather leave [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic as the focal point and work with players who give you a minimum guarantee."
