Cape Town - Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has called on his team-mates to show improvement when they come up against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Reds put in a woeful display against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, but somehow managed to escape Loftus Road with three points thanks to a last-minute own-goal from Steven Caulker.
And Lovren admits Liverpool will have to be much better if they want to get anything from the clash against the defending European champions.
"We will not play like that against Real Madrid, you can be sure of that," he was quoted as saying on FourFourTwo.
"We will be better. We cannot play like this because we know what we can expect from Real Madrid. Their players, we know who they are and we will prepare a little bit different."
Despite facing such a formidable challenge at Anfield against Real Madrid, Lovren insists that the Reds will be approaching the game with no fear.
"It's not daunting," he added. "It's a pleasure to play against these players. I am not afraid. No-one in our team is afraid.
"We respect their players but we will show something completely different on Wednesday."
