Cape Town - Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has expressed doubts over
whether Frank Lampard will travel with the squad to Moscow next week.
On-loan New York City midfielder Lampard was forced off during the first half of City's 4-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday with a thigh injury.
The 36-year-old left the field on a stretcher and was subsequently sent for scans to determine the extent of the problem.
Pellegrini faces an anxious wait on the results of the tests, but conceded that Lampard will not make the trip to the Russian capital as things stand ahead of the Citizens' clash with CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The Chilean tactician told the post-match press conference: "Frank has a muscle injury. We will see on Sunday after the scan but, for the moment, he will not travel to Russia."
Former Chelsea star Lampard has been a revelation for the English champions since joining them on a six-month loan deal before the start of the new season, having already scored four goals in six appearances in all competitions.
