Kompany doubt for Bayern clash

Cape Town - Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of action "for 10 to 12 days" putting him in doubt for the must-win European encounter with Bayern Munich later this month.

The 28-year-old centre-back sustained a calf injury in City's 2-1 defeat to CSKA Moscow last week, which further dented their hopes of progressing from the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Kompany sat out his side's 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and will be kept on the sidelines for nearly two weeks after undergoing a scan on Monday.

The Belgium international faces a race to be fit for the Premier League visit of Swansea on November 22, and more importantly the return tie against Group E leaders Bayern at the Etihad Stadium three days later, reports Football411.

He will definitely not feature for his country during the international break, with Belgium coach Marc Wilmots confirming his skipper will miss the Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales on Sunday, having played no part in Wednesday's 3-1 friendly win over Norway.

Wilmots told Belgian broadcaster RTBF: "I received a call from Vincent earlier. He is out for Manchester City for 10 to 12 days, so is unavailable for Sunday.

"It's a shame but there is no problem, there are only solutions."
