Turin - Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has been ruled out of Saturday's Champions League final with Barcelona due to a calf tear, the Italian club said Thursday.
The 30-year-old central defender Chiellini suffered the injury training on Wednesday and examination Thursday revealed he would not recover in time to play.
Chiellini was the victim of Luis Suarez's bite at the 2014 World Cup and is denied a chance of a repeat meeting with the Barcelona forward.
Angelo Ogbonna and Andrea Barzagli, who himself recently returned to training following a hamstring injury, are candidates to replace Chiellini as Juventus seek a third Champions League/Cup triumph.
