Bin Hammam hits out at Blatter

Doha - The head of the Asian Football Confederation says FIFA president Sepp Blatter's lengthy tenure has contributed to a perception that it is corrupt.

Mohamed bin Hammam, a Qatari who also is a FIFA executive, wouldn't say whether he would run against his 74-year-old rival in the June election.

Bin Hammam says "he has not made his mind up yet" on whether he would challenge Blatter, but says there should be another candidate since "competition" would keep the organization "vibrant and alive."

Blatter said last month that he would seek a fourth four-year term in office.
