With South Africa coach Stuart Baxter mindful of this weekend's Telkom Knockout fixtures, he opted to rest some of his more established players.
The likes of Teboho Mokoena and Lebogang Mothiba both started the game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, while in total Baxter made six substitutions.
After the game, Tau, who scored a late goal to cancel out Federico Santander's effort, told SuperSport: "It's good that we have youngsters in the team. So, they will always help us with energy and it's also a good experience for them."
On the match itself, the Brighton attacker added: "It was a difficult game, we conceded early but got back strong. We were trying to get the tactics right and the movement. And we got the last goal in the last minute which is good.
"We didn't know much about them, but they were very physical and moving the ball fast which is a good preparation for Libya. But then we gave everything and got a draw."
Bafana Bafana now just need not lose to Libya in their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E game next year March to qualify for the tournament in Cameroon.
