Golden Arrows defender Gladwin Shitolo is overjoyed to have finally earned a call-up to Bafana Bafana.
The 30-year-old Golden Arrows midfielder thought his international chance had come and gone after struggling to impose himself at Orlando Pirates.
Shitolo subsequently spent a number of years on loan, with Platinum Stars and Chippa United, after joining Pirates from Jomo Cosmos in 2014.
But after starring for Arrows this season, he finally has the chance to don the famous green and gold.
And speaking to the SowetanLIVE, Shitolo admitted his delight at the call from national team boss Molefi Ntseki.
Shitolo said: "To be honest I was so emotional when I found out about the call-up because it's something I had prayed about for very long.
"I wouldn't say I was surprised because I was expecting it could happen at any time. When it happened, I was thankful to the almighty God."
He added: "I still feel that there is room for improvement. There were some performances that I was not very happy about this season but clearly, it means the coach (Ntseki) saw something good in me that can be useful in the team."
Shitolo will naturally need to wait for his Bafana debut after all sporting activities were suspended as a result of the coronavirus.
