Senegal's Mane out injured for Bafana match

Cape Town - Senegal have confirmed that attacking midfielder Sadio Mane will not take any part in their final Soccer World Cup qualifying match against Bafana Bafana after picking up an injury.

The 25-year-old starred for the Lions of Teranga against South Africa on Friday evening as they secured Soccer World Cup qualification after a 2-0 victory.

Mane has travelled back to England where his club, Liverpool, will further monitor his progress. 

"Following the match, South Africa against Senegal Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, in Polokwane, the player Sadio Mane slightly felt his old injury,” read the statement as quoted by Soccer Laduma website.

"After consultations between the medical staff of the national team of Senegal and Liverpool, it was decided by mutual agreement to make him available to his club to continue treatment until full recovery.”

Meanwhile, the Bafana Bafana squad have already landed safely in Senegal for their final qualifying match against The Lions of Teranga.

Kick off is at 21:30 (SA time) on Tuesday, November 14.
