Cape Town play-maker Masilake 'Scara' Phohlongo has spoken of his pride
upon his maiden senior national team call-up by head coach Stuart
Baxter.
Scara, 20, has been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2018 African Nations Championship qualifiers to face Zambia this month.
It marks a full graduation for the play-maker who has been heavily involved in the South Africa youth set-up over the past five years. The Urban Warriors Academy graduate was also a part of the Amajita side in the U20 World Cup in Korea.
"The last camp I was not part of the team, but I am happy to have been included in the squad for the upcoming qualifiers. For us players it is a big occasion," he told his club's official website.
"It is a dream come true for me – everyone that was at the FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea talked about graduating to the Bafana Bafana team, and for it to happen… it is a big thing for me, a dream come true.
"I am excited to work with coach Stuart Baxter, it will be my first time – just looking forward to representing my country."
