Cape Town - The South African Football Association (SAFA) on Tuesday confirmed that Bafana Bafana's next two 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixtures have been amended, after an initial complaint to CAF.
Bafana Bafana will play the Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday, November 14 in Accra and welcome Sudan three days later on Sunday, November 17 at the Orlando Stadium after bringing forward the initial date of the Ghana clash.
Initially, Molefi Ntseki’s side was scheduled to play the West African country a day later on November 15 and host Sudan on November 17 before the continental footballing body amended the dates.
This allows Bafana Bafana a sufficient window for travel and to prepare for their second clash against Sudan.
South Africa are in Group C together with the Black Stars, Sudan and Sao Tome Principe.
Two teams from the Group will qualify for AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Sao Tome earned a historic victory over Mauritius – winning 3-1 in the first leg of the preliminary stage and followed it up with a 2-1 victory in the second leg to complete a remarkable 5-2 overall aggregate win.
Kick-off against Ghana is at 21:00 (SA time) with a time yet to be confirmed for the second fixture against Sudan.
