Cape Town - Former football players, coaches, officials and fans paid a fitting farewell to the late former Bafana Bafana coach, Ted Dumitru.
Dumitru, who coached Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates passed away last week Thursday after suffering heart attack at Eastgate Mall.
A memorial service was held for the Romanian on Thursday (June 2) at Ellis Park Arena where supporters, current and past players came together to pay tribute and bid him farewell.
He died at the age of 76.
Chief Executive of Kaizer Chiefs, Kaizer Motaung spoke at the memorial service saying that Dumitru is “the reason of most of our success as a country”. Sport's Minister Fikile Mbalula also said a few words on the late manager.
Dumitru coached Bafana Bafana at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, where South Africa finished bottom on Group C, failing to win any of their matches.
