Rantie released from Bafana squad

Cape Town - Striker Tokelo Rantie has been released from the Bafana Bafana camp after he failed to report for camp on time.

According to the official SAFA website, Rantie was scheduled to report for duty on Sunday, October 2 but failed to do so although he had already arrived in South Africa from overseas.

He also did not report for camp the following day on Monday, October 3 the day the rest of the team arrived for official training.

"We thought in the spirit of encouraging team spirit and discipline, we must release Rantie from camp," said coach Shakes Mashaba.

Rantie's matter will now be handled by the Association for further disciplinary measures.

South Africa face Burkina Faso for their first Group D clash on Saturday, October 8 at Stade Du 4 Auot in Ouagadougou.

The match is scheduled to start at 20:00 (SA time).
