Paraguay coach identifies Percy Tau as Bafana threat

Cape Town - Paraguay head coach Carlos Osorio has identified Percy Tau as their main threat ahead of their clash against Bafana Bafana in the Nelson Mandela Challenge.

The two sides are set to clash on Tuesday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to celebrate the centenary celebrations of former president Nelson Mandela.

Speaking ahead of the tie, Osorio identified former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau as Bafana Bafana's main threat having shone against Nigeria in an AFCON 2019 qualifier over the weekend.

"The left-footed player, number 19, who plays on the right side," Osorio told KickOff.

"He can play in behind the striker, he can play wide and come inside. He's very smart, very clever with the passes and he can also show his ability to play one-v-one. So in that respect, it's going to be tough."

The 57-year-old added that it was an honour to participate in the celebratory spectacle in honour of a global icon.

"First of all it is an honour that we came to play South Africa here on a special day for the whole nation," he said.

"I think Mr Mandela has been a motivation to many and we are very proud to be here to celebrate his birthday. As far as the game is concerned, it is very important but I do not think that the most important thing is the result; it is about how we perform.

"Paraguay has a crop of young players between ages 19 and 22, and I believe if they are well trained, in the future they can give the country a lot of happy days, happy occasions and good games, and hopefully that'll be the case."
