Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town striker Prince Nxumalo says he's worked his socks off all season to finally get recalled to the South Africa national team.
The 25-year-striker was previously missed a chance to make his debut for his country after he was withdrawn from the squad for the tour to Central America to play friendlies against Honduras and Costa Rica last year after after suffering an epileptic attack.
However, his return to action for Ajax was accompanied by a rich run of goal-scoring form, which has seen him score 11 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions to earn a recall to the Bafana squad.
"Obviously I have worked really hard to be here," he told Vodacom Soccer. "I am really excited because it is something I have worked really hard all season for.
"Having gone through what I went through, my efforts had to be doubled in order to get back to my feet again.
"People are obviously speaking about how many goals I have scored but, to me, all of that does not matter if the team [Ajax] is not winning.
"If I scored goals and the team won, then I am relieved. But I am back in the squad because of my hard work, thanks to my amazing support structure at the club and my family.
"I am really looking forward to represent my country if given a chance. It will not be easy because there are also other great strikers in the team that are competing for the same spot."
