Notoane praises Dickens and Singh for Bafana

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana's COSAFA Cup coach David Notoane praised the impact of Jemondre Dickens and Luther Singh in helping his side to eventually beat Uganda in Tuesday's Plate semi-final.

The Cranes were dominant in the first stanza though they had to wait early in the second half to net the opening goal.

However, Bafana came back strongly and were able to conjure a leveler which came after good combination play between Dickens and Singh.

The match went to penalties and Notoane's men prevailed 4-2 to reach the final of the Plate section.

Speaking to SuperSport, he said: "It was a difficult game. Not the best of spectacles in terms of how we want to play football.

"We were a little bit shaky in the build-up, not sure of our passes. In the beginning you saw the nerves.

"So at half-time we had to shake the boys a little bit mentally and we had to come out in the second half and show that we wanted to buy ourselves a second game.

"I give the boys a thumbs-up for a good reaction in the second half.

"I think Jemondre Dickens coming on gave us a little bit of an outlet to put pressure on them and allowed Luther Singh a little bit of a free role to pick up the second ball and make the play from there.

"On the balance of the result we are happy. We learnt our lessons from the penalty shootout in the last game and we are looking forward to Friday."
