Mngonyama eyes COSAFA Cup glory

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns defender Kwanda Mngonyama says the national under-23 team intends to uphold the pride of the country at the COSAFA Cup.

Mngonyama forms part of the core team set to represent South Africa at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in August.

They are currently in Namibia for the competition where the 22 year-old wants to guide the team to the title.

"We have played in Africa before and we have done very well that we even qualified for the Olympics, and most of the players in the team are from the under 23," Mngonyama told Soccer Laduma.

"We know each other. We know it's a big responsibility to play COSAFA and we want to win the trophy this time around."

Mngonyama will return to Sundowns next season after a loan spell at Maritzburg United last season where he made 24 appearances.
