Masuku pleased with Rio preparations

Cape Town - Menzi Masuku is pleased with the preparations Bafana Bafana are receiving at the COSAFA Cup ahead of the Rio Olympic Games.

The Bafana team, comprising of mostly Under-23 players, are competing in the tournament in Namibia and have secured a final berth, where they will face Botswana at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

Musuku grabbed a brace as South Africa thrashed Swaziland 5-1 in the semi-finals in midweek.

"I believe that the COSAFA Cup is very good for our region. And as our coaches have been saying, if you want to conquer the world start in your backyard - so this is a starting point for us," the Orlando Pirates midfielder told KickOff.

"This tournament has produced a lot of stars over the years, and the good thing is that we are using it to prepare for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

"The matches we have played so far have also assisted the technical team to see where we still need improvement as we get closer to the Olympics."
