Mashaba includes Rodgers in Bafana squad

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has named his 25-man squad for the upcoming Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

South Africa will travel to Burkina Faso for their first Group D clash on Saturday, October 8 at Stade Du 4 Auot in Ouagadougou. 

The match is scheduled to start at 20:00 (SA time).

On Tuesday, October 11 Mashaba's charges face Ghana in an international friendly at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Kick-off is at 19:00.

Mashaba made a few adjustments to his squad with Thulani Serero, May Mahlangu and Ayanda Patosi returning to the Bafana Bafana fold.

Wits' Eleazar Rodgers is the surprise inclusion as he gets a call-up alongside Polokwane City's Thobani Mncwango and Chippa United's Diamond Thopola.

Andile Jali has not been included in the squad due to injury.

BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD:

Goalkeepers: Jackson Mabokgwane, Itmeleng Khune, Brighton Mhlongo 

Defenders: Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Rivaldo Coetzee, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Abbubakar Mobara, Diamond Thopola, Tebogo Langerman, Eric Mathoho, Thabo Matlaba

Midfielders: Dean Furman, May Mahlangu, Thulani Serero, Oupa Manyisa, Ayanda Patosi, Keagan Dolly, Aubrey Modiba, Mpho Makola, Hlompho Kekana

Strikers: Eleazar Rodgers, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Thobani Mncwango, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Tokelo Rantie.
