Gabuza: I played with confidence

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana striker Thamsanqa Gabuza said he feels more confident under the leadership of head coach Shakes Mashaba following their 4-0 win over Gambia at the weekend.

This comes in despite being out of favour at his club, Orlando Pirates.

Both Gabuza and Keagan Dolly found the back of the net on two occasions when Bafana humbled Gambia in the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Independence Stadium on Saturday.

The rejuvenated “Ganda-ganda” said he is grateful to Mashaba for believing in him and returned the favour to him by delivering a impressive performance in the green and gold.

“I’m really happy with the way I performed on Saturday,” said Gabuza.

“I’m so grateful to my team-mates and the coach who gave me the opportunity to play despite everything.

“I really played with confidence and that’s why I managed to score goals for him.

“And it was a well-deserved win for us.”

Bafana will complete their disappointing AFCON qualification campaign against Mauritania at home on September 3.
