Furman bemoans Mokotjo loss

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman has bemoaned Kamohelo Mokotjo's decision to retire, temporarily, from international football.

The FC Twente midfielder took a swipe at Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba for continuing to sideline him despite his good form in the Eredivisie, before announcing that he will ignore international call-ups while Mashaba is at the helm.

However, Furman believes that Bafana cannot afford to lose a quality player like the Netherlands-based defensive midfielder.

"I think it's a shame for Bafana to lose a player of Kamo's quality," Furman told Vodacom Soccer.

"It's difficult to comment because obviously I was not in camp. But obviously the negative reports about the national team are disappointing.

"The team needs players like him who play in the big European leagues because they bring in a lot with them to the team."
