Cape Town - SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been backed by teammate Dean Furman to keep Itumeleng Khune frozen out as Bafana Bafana's number one.
Williams was the number one at the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament and performed well, though he was seemingly at fault for the defeat to Nigeria in the quarter-finals.
Nonetheless, Furman takes the view that Williams has all the attributes to make sure the number one jersey remains in his possession for years to come.
"Ronwen is an absolutely fantastic goalkeeper and there's no two ways about it," Furman said as quoted by KickOff.
"Confidence does not seem to be a weak part of his game. He comes for crosses, his distribution is absolutely fantastic, the way he talks to his team is great. He's got many great attributes to his game and he is a pleasure to play with.
"I'm just happy for him that he is being recognised at Bafana level. He took his opportunity and I thought he was excellent at AFCON and I only see him getting better as he gets more experience at that level.
"We are lucky to have such a quality goalkeeper who really calms everyone down because we've got so much confidence in him. There's no panic in that department. I can see him being the number one for many years and I can see him holding down that jersey. We are very lucky to have him at SuperSport."
