Cape Town - Doctor
Khumalo has called for Pitso Mosimane's help in addressing the
challenges faced by Bafana Bafana and the country's football in general.
The Kaizer Chiefs legend believes that Mosimane's recent track record speaks for itself, and that his expertise could greatly benefit the nation.
The Mamelodi Sundowns coach had a failed spell in charge of the national team when they missed out on qualification for the 2012 African Cup of Nations. However, his recent record with the Brazilians has been exemplary.
The 52-year-old has won two league titles and has guided his side to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
Nonetheless, Khumalo's call for aid comes at a time when questions are being asked about the future of South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba.
Media reports suggest that Mashaba will be sacked after failing to qualify for AFCON 2017 in Gabon.
Khumalo told Soccer Laduma: "There's a renowned coach doing exceptionally well at Sundowns by the name of Pitso Mosimane. Have we ever thought of using his expertise?
"Not to share his Sundowns philosophy or methodology, but just insights as to what made the difference and elevated his coaching acumen. Whether you like it or not, Pitso is one of the best coaches around and we have to use such coaches for the country's benefit."
