Da Gama drops Mobara after no-show

Cape Town - South Africa Under-23 coach Owen da Gama suffered an injury setback ahead of their trip to Maceio, Brazil with Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Luthando Sixhaso out due to a shoulder strain he sustained during training.

According to the official SAFA website, he will be replaced by Steve Hoffman from Vasco Da Gama.

Abbubaker Mobara has been dropped from the squad after failing to report for national duty and has subsequently been replaced by Zitha Macheke of Chippa United.

Lebogang Mothiba, Lebogang Phiri and Kgosietsile Ntlhe who ply their trade in Europe will join the rest of the U23 National Team in Brazil tomorrow afternoon.

Da Gama’s charges travel to Maceio, Brazil for an international friendly match against the Brazilians which is scheduled for Sunday, March 27 at Rei Pele Stadium.

They will travel to Sao Paulo overnight and then connect to Maceio City in the state of Alagaos the following day.

The match is scheduled to kick-off 18:30 (SA time - 12:30 Sunday morning).
