Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy is shocked that one his players, Taariq Fielies, is constantly overlooked for the national side.
The Citizens finished the Absa Premiership season in fourth place on the table while also winning the MTN8 title with Fielies at the heart of their defence.
McCarthy seemed baffled by Fielies' continued exclusion from the Bafana Bafana set-up with the 26-year-old last featuring for the national side at last year's COSAFA Cup tournament.
In quotes published on KickOff, McCarthy said: "Taariq Fielies - how this boy doesn't get a Bafana call-up is beyond me.
"He's got the football brains; he’s calm and collected on the ball; he's scandalous in the air; he’s aggressive, and he's a goal threat.
"But anyway, I'm just glad I've got these kinds of players in my team."
Fielies though will be a strong contender to be included in Bafana Bafana squad when coach Stuart Baxter names two separate squads for the COSAFA Cup in Durban and the Africa Cup of Nations to take place in Egypt next month.
